How I got here

For Robin, it has always been important to get to know every facet of yachting – from sales to the technical side. This includes having personally carried out a complete winter service on several yachts – an experience that few brokers can offer today.
 

For him, it all began in beautiful northern Germany. After graduating from an English-speaking school, he initially chose the technical, hands-on route – with an apprenticeship and master craftsman qualification in a workshop that combines industrial, automotive and boat painting under one roof. There he developed a trained eye for surfaces and for the true condition of a wide range of vehicles. Having carried out cosmetic repairs as well as the maintenance of vehicles and boats himself, he is very well placed to assess the cost, scope and execution of such work.

His enthusiasm for the craft led Robin to build up his own yacht service business with friends at weekends. For around five years, they used the winter months on the North Sea and Baltic coasts to prepare 20 yachts for the coming season with a complete winter service. This is where his first client contact developed, along with an appreciation of the concerns surrounding the running costs in yachting. Robin then added the commercial perspective with a dual MBA programme in Düsseldorf, which he completed at weekends and in English in spring 2026.

With this combination of craftsmanship and business expertise, Robin joined Drettmann Yachts in January 2026, coinciding with boot Düsseldorf, and has since accompanied his first sales. Today, he works from both the Palma de Mallorca and Bremen offices in Yacht Sales and Yacht Management. His clients rely on his thorough, prompt and honest answers.
