What began in 1970 as a small family business has grown into an internationally minded yacht company, trusted across brokerage, charter, management and construction. Through five decades, one thing has held constant: long relationships, honest advice and a deep understanding of yachts earned over many years and many transactions.
We've built our own yachts, brokered thousands more and guided clients through every part of ownership, always as an independent, family-run business. Along the way we've worked with the world's leading shipyards and launched ranges of our own, from the Elegance sport yachts to the Bandido explorer class.
Ours is a story built not on scale, but on trust, earned over years and in the moments that matter most. It's a belief that has shaped every decision we've made, and it's what today's third generation carries forward, into a new era with fresh energy, wider reach and the same principles that earned our reputation in the first place.
The timeline below traces the moments that shaped us, and points towards the decades still to come.
1970
The Beginning
Traute and Dierk Drettmann establish the company, laying the foundations for what would become one of Europe's most respected independent yacht specialists.
1977
Building New Partnerships
Drettmann becomes the exclusive European distributor for Neptunus Motor Yachts and launches its own DD Yachts production line, the beginning of a long commitment to quality yacht construction.
1989
A Family Legacy Continues
Albert Drettmann and his wife Claudia take over the business, continuing the family's commitment to personal service, trusted relationships and long-term growth.
1993
Expanding into Yacht Building
Construction begins on the first Bandido and Elegance yachts in Taiwan, establishing Drettmann as both a respected builder and an international brokerage.
2017
Representing Gulf Craft
Drettmann is appointed exclusive sales and distribution partner for the award-winning Gulf Craft brand across Europe, Russia and Ukraine, further strengthening its international portfolio.
2019
Welcoming Bavaria
Drettmann expands its portfolio to include Bavaria Motor Yachts, broadening the range of yachts it represents across Europe.
2020
Celebrating 50 Years
Fifty years after its founding, Drettmann marks a remarkable milestone, with more than 10,000 yachts sold and over 1,500 delivered up to 55 metres.
2023
Expanding into Yacht Charter
Drettmann broadens its offering with a dedicated yacht charter division and opens a new office in Puerto Portals, Mallorca, bringing clients closer to some of the Mediterranean's finest cruising grounds.
