A new lease of life
Explore the comprehensive nine-month refit of the 46-metre explorer yacht M/Y Avalon, managed by Drettmann Yachts as owner's representative from first plans to final delivery.
Following the purchase of M/Y Avalon in 2024, her owners spent a season cruising before deciding to invest in a major refit: to modernise her appearance, complete scheduled maintenance and optimise her systems for many years of future cruising. Carried out over nine months at Denia Shipyard in Spain, the project centred on a complete exterior transformation, with new styling by Pascoli International and a full repaint by Nautipaints. In place of the original red hull and white superstructure, Avalon now carries a deep navy-blue hull, a crisp white superstructure and integrated black detailing, a striking new profile that stays true to her purposeful explorer character.
Alongside the exterior work, the refit included an extensive programme of technical and interior upgrades: the underwater hull was sandblasted and recoated, all three generators rebuilt, a new sewage treatment system installed, and the galley completely rebuilt to improve the crew's daily workflow, among many further enhancements to comfort and reliability. Throughout, Drettmann Yachts acted as owner's representative, overseeing every stage, from tender evaluation, supplier negotiations and budgeting to scheduling, quality assurance and progress monitoring, through to successful delivery on time and within budget. It is exactly the kind of complex, end-to-end project that decades of experience are built to handle.
