FOUNDED IN 1985 IN VIAREGGIO, MANGUSTA PIONEERED THE HIGH-PERFORMANCE "OPEN" SUPERYACHT AND REMAINS FAMILY-RUN TODAY.
Giuseppe Balducci's family-run Overmarine Group remains behind the brand, now guided by the second generation, Maurizio and Katia Balducci. Named after the mongoose, the one animal agile enough to overpower a cobra, Mangusta set out to challenge the era's fastest open yachts, and the launch of the Mangusta 80 established the brand as the pioneer of its class. Over four decades and more than 320 yachts, Overmarine has built its production across three Tuscan sites in Viareggio, Massa and Pisa.
The range today spans three distinct lines: the signature Maxi Open, still the fastest and most streamlined in the fleet; the transoceanic-capable GranSport, exemplified by the 54-metre flagship El Leon, the first Mangusta to cross the Atlantic and circumnavigate the globe; and the long-range Oceano series for owners prioritising comfort over speed. Overmarine has also invested in sustainability, significantly reducing fuel consumption across its fleet and enabling its full range to run on renewable HVO biofuel.
