PART OF DAMEN YACHTING SINCE 1991, AMELS TRACES ITS ROOTS TO 1918 AND MORE THAN A CENTURY OF DUTCH SHIPBUILDING.  

The story began when Kees Amels opened a family shipbuilding business in the Netherlands, and the yard's move into superyachts followed with the 48-metre Katalina in 1982. Its 2003 relocation to Vlissingen, a shipbuilding hub with more than 700 years of maritime heritage, gave Amels the largest superyacht facility in the country, complete with two dry docks of up to 204 metres. In 2005 the shipyard introduced its Limited Editions range, a semi-custom platform that lets owners take delivery of a fully bespoke superyacht in a fraction of the time of a full-custom build, with models spanning 55 to 83 metres.

Today Amels operates as part of Damen Yachting, the umbrella that also carries the Xplorer expedition range (formerly SeaXplorer) and the Yacht Support series. The continued growth of the Amels 60 and Amels 80 Limited Editions models is proof that decades of Dutch shipbuilding discipline, now combined with genuine long-range explorer capability, remain very much in demand among today's owners.
